Snapshots of Heaven for the Holidays

Long before the Christmas tree is trimmed, we all start speeding toward the holidays. Post offices get more crowded, malls become busier, and our schedules more packed. Sometimes forgotten in this hectic pace are the precious moments parents share with their children.

The notion that “kids say the darndest things” has been around for a long time. But to look past the words and into the essence of what children communicate about how they see the world is a treasure every parent cherishes.

Michael Wells’ book, Snapshots of Heaven: 40 Funny, Profound, Real-Life Stories About Children, is the first in an intended series. It captures a scrapbook of day-to-day life with his own children. Readers will be reminded of their own children and the poignancy, fun, sadness, and insight that can easily slip away almost without notice if they don’t consciously devote time to observe and preserve it.

Now, more than ever, we need to look to our children to recapture the joy of living that we so easily take for granted. According to Wells, “The children in our lives give us more than we will ever know. Every antic, every question, and every conversation carries the power to make us realize what is truly important in life.”

Written in a series of brief glimpses, Snapshots of Heaven takes readers through one man’s journey to understand his growing children. As the kids in the book get older, their needs become different and their father, the author, is forced to adapt his communication methods to remain close to his son and daughter. When parents feel like their child comes from another planet, Wells’ universal struggles and powerful insights can help them gain perspective and remember why they became parents in the first place. Interestingly, this book intrigues children as well as parents. They love reading and listening to these stories.

Wells is an author, speaker, entrepreneur, husband, and father of two. The stories in Snapshots of Heaven are the stuff of his own experiences as a father. An inspiring speaker, his driving ambition is to encourage and motivate adults everywhere to tell their stories of the little ones who “show them heaven before their time.”
